After working in the tourism industry for decades, we could see the damage that flights and hotels were having on individual carbon footprints. We felt the industry must take responsibility for the damage holidays are doing to the environment by offering viable alternatives that do not negatively impact the planet.
We founded the Eco Glamping Club to help facilitate the creation of unique, stylish and luxurious accommodation that would appeal to planet-conscious holiday-makers. We wanted to show them how to holiday differently and prove that there was an alternative to carbon-hungry flights and hotels that still offered luxury, style and the feeling of escape.
Working with landowners and glamping creators, we have put together a portfolio of Certificated Sites that offer year-round, sustainably-built, luxurious glamping homes that incorporate cutting-edge materials and eco-technology to dramatically reduce the carbon footprint of each stay.
An estimated 11% of global greenhouse gas emissions are due to tourism, and that’s predicted to double by 2050. Three-quarters of this impact can be blamed on flights and city hotels.
So what do we do? Give up holidays? No! The mental and physical health benefits of time spent enjoying life with family and friends are huge. We just need to holiday differently. We need to put our passports away and move away from the city breaks.
We need to get back to nature.
Our kids will thank us – a massive 96% of children said they felt happier outdoors and that spending time with their family in nature meant more hugs, more fun and brought them all closer.
And of course there is the work you are doing to protect the planet. If you swapped just one weekend break in Europe for a glamping weekend with us, you could save 2 tonnes of carbon from your annual footprint. The kids will definitely thank you for that in the future.
